The Harlem Gospel Singers
Twenty Years of QUEEN ESTHER MARROW’S THE HARLEM GOSPEL SINGERS SHOW
The greatest Gospel show on earth celebrates its anniversary with a new tour:
LIFE IS A MORNING

Twenty years ago the First Lady of Gospel, Queen Esther Marrow, christened her newly founded ensemble ‘The Harlem Gospel Singers’. In no time at all their unique sound and extra special groove had made them the most successful group in the entire genre, and had started an out-and-out Gospel craze. They received invitations to sing for Pope John Paul II as well as several US Presidents. Millions of fans, from San Francisco to New York, Paris to London and Lisbon to Prague, fell in love. “They send their audience into a frenzy”, wrote the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Now is the time to celebrate this singular success story with a spectacular anniversary tour featuring the young german-american soul star Cassandra Steen (ECHO award 2010)!

“Life is a Morning” captures the essence of a new day: new departures, hope, and vitality – with Gospel as the perfect soundtrack, uplifting, spiritual and effervescent. The lavishly produced anniversary show Life is a Morning is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears, showing QUEEN ESTHER MARROW’S THE HARLEM GOSPEL SINGERS and their excellent band at their heavenly best, and also proving once and for all that Gospel truly is the foundation of all pop music, from Rock ‘n’ Roll to Soul, and all the way to Hip Hop. With their characteristic vocal force and exuberant joy, they present a fascinating panorama of black music ranging from traditional and contemporary Gospel to gorgeous spirituals, plus dazzling Rhythm & Blues by the exceptional pianist Anthony Evans and his band. This is far more than just a musical adventure – it’s a life-changing, life-affirming experience!
